EVALUATION QUESTION 4

Research and Planning:
First off we set up our Blog using a site called Blogger. This is what we use to document our planning and other work. Blogger is a very useful site. It saves everything onto the internet meaning we do not use up space on our computer and also allows teachers to access our work quickly and view it in a clear, well laid out format. As part of our research and planning we had to make storyboards, shot lists and other documents that will help us and give us knowledge in creating our music video. The only flaw with blogger was that it does not have a backup system meaning there was a risk of work being lost.  However this can happen with all documentation methods and just meant you had to be more careful. Youtube was very useful throughout the creation of my music video. We used it to look at different music videos to see the typical conventions of music videos. We had also used it to upload our lip syncing video. Using YouTube to add videos meant that when we embed this onto our blog if it is deleted it can be easily found again and is backed up. Slide share was a massive help throughout research and panning the music video. Slideshare is a massive website which has different slideshows on which held a lot of very useful information on which helped me massively with learning about music videos and the typical conventions of music videos which I learned on slideshows of Andrew Goodwin’s Theory. The internet in general was a very useful resource for my research and planning. I was able to find out information on my artist and other useful information that has helped me with my final product. I used Photoshop to create my digipak and magazine advert which I found very useful as it allowed me to alter the images I had taken to how I would like and make them look professional.

Construction:
We used Youtube  again in our construction stage. I used Youtube to upload rough cuts and final cuts which meant they were easily accessible to show people in order to get feedback. They were also backed up by another device other than the Macs I used to upload them and also were easy to embed to my blog. I used a Canon HD CMOS Pro camera to film my music video. The camera is of high quality meaning footage was slick and clear and also oh a professional standard. IMovie which can be found on apple computers was what I used to create the video and edit it so it is the desired effect. It is easy to use once you get the hang of it and allows you to create the music video to your desired look. I did have some difficulties but none of which were down to IMovie. These difficulties were things like lip syncing and cutting the footage to the correct time, as I became more used to IMovie these became easier. I decided to download the Blogger App during construction as it meant I had everything I needed from my blog like research and planning on my phone which meant it was easy and quick to view.

 Evaluation:
To create my evaluation I have used Blogger and Prezi. Blogger is a more simple and less creative way of evaluation work whereas Prezi is more creative and interesting. Making a Prezi is simple to do but Is User interactive which means it is more interesting for the viewer. I found these sites easy to use and let me edit and check my work easily and hassle free.

Overall New media technologies have been a huge help in the planning and construction of my music video. It has created a more professional look overall and given me all of the resources I need to ensure I have a high quality product. It has made editing and correcting my work easy to do and this has helped me ensure I have the high quality work.

EVALUATION QUESTION 3

The feedback I have gained from the audience had helped us massively in imporiving the Music video. We have asked a wide variety of people of many agtes but really focused on 18-25 year old which we feel would be our main audience as we have stated in our research and planning. The feedback was both positive and constructive criticism which helped me see wjhat elements of the video needed improving but also what was popular amongst audeinces.

Rough Cut 1:

The first cut we did had some issues with lipsyncing and not much performance involved. It also has footage without deleted audio and some had not been editied like the rest of the footage in the clip. This was the first thing I needed to imporve on based on feedback and gave us a good idea on what needed to e done.

Rough Cut 2:

We added some more footage into Rough Cut 2 in order to show more performance in my music video.  This was noted in the feedback that the Music vidoe was very repetitive and despite thatg being the narrative it needed something to break it up like performance. Therefore in this rough cut we have taken noteas from fisrt cut feedback and ensured all detachable sound had been deleted and there had been consistent editing. From looking at rough cut 2 feedback given was that it still needed more performance and the end scene was rather random and the panning shot of the firled should be th elast shot.

Rough Cut 3:
This was meant to be my final cut but felt it needed more work. So for my Final Cut I went out and did some more filming to create more of a narrative and work more with the message in the lyrics about work.

Final Cut:

This is our final music video. I have taken on board feedback from rough cut one and two and then added more footage into my music video to come up with the final design. I am now happy with my work and with the added footage.

REAL MEDIA TEXTS

I haven't developed my ideas on other media texts very much. Although I have seen films where people become bored of their life and long to do something different for example 'Eat Pray Love' and I took some inspiration from them. I have also taken inspiration from coldplay music videos with the look and low tone colours which come across in a few of coldplay's music videos.
I took inspiration from Mumford and Sons song 'Babel' where the artist is shown in black and white as I feel it makes them stand out. I have also taken inspiration from 'The Writer' by Ellie Golding with the use of fields which I have used to represent freedom.
I have also taken some inspiration from some student music videos with the representation of clouds. For the digipak and magazine advert I have actually taken inspiration from 'The Verve' who are the artists of the song I am using. I was a fan of some of their digipaks and magazine adverts so have taken inspiration from them.
